Six going on Sixteen

It's been over a year since I wrote in your blog. Not for lack of inspiration, even though I don't see you nearly as much as I want, I still have countless memories with you. Life just happened. I regret not writing as much because as I look back on old posts I remember things, little things, that brighten my day that have seemed to have slipped from my memory. I wish I could remember every little thing so one day I can share with you.

To catch up, you turned 5!... And then 6 (as of last week). I missed an entire year worth of blogging but I promise to make more of an effort this year.

We watched you participate in your last preschool program in May. I cried, but don't tell anyone.
We celebrated another dance recital that same month.

And then we stood at the bus stop in August on your first day of kindergarten. I didn't cry, only because your Momma lectured MeMe & I before. You were scared, nervous, but so excited. And you loved it.

Now when we go on adventure days I often hear you in the back of the car talking to yourself or humming to then announce " I know what 2+2 is... 4!" Or some other fun math, spelling, reading, or Spanish fact. You love school & you are so incredibly intelligent. I don't just say that because you are my God daughter, I say that because it's true. You have been blessed with an amazing thirst for knowledge and you are so motivated at this age. Don't let that go.

Speaking of me using the term "God Daughter" ... It's official! I was over at your house in rhe beginning of summer and MeMe came out of the bedroom with something behind her back. She went on and on about how it wasn't the way she wanted to present it but none the less she just had to give it time. I was expecting an owl gift, one of yours and MeMe's favorite things to surprise me with for no reason. Instead she handed me an envelope. Inside was the official document saying I was your God Mother! I broke down in tears, something no one sees often. I will forever cherish that moment. It didn't change our bound but it made everything that much more important and special to me. I'm so blessed and honored to officially be your 2nd God Mother. I will always, always, ALWAYS be with you.

Since the last time I blogged I have fallen. Fallen for a man, named Brandon. You have slowly gotten to know him over the last year and a half, and honestly I still do not know how you feel about him. Even at such a young age you are sarcastic and protective with him, but I see how much fun you have with him. And you always ask about him when he's not around. Brandon has a daughter, Kaydance. You two have become friends. But it's clear when you two interact that you make it clear "that's my auntie cay" which cracks me up. No one will ever replace you & I am so happy you have been able to be apart of yet another chapter in my life.

This year you & I FaceTime at least once a week. It's my favorite time of the week. It's spontaneous and usually depends on your behavior but being able to FaceTime with you brightens my day. Even when I'm buried in homework or have an apartment to clean our mini conversations crack me up. The things that come out of your mouth are hilarious ... And frightening. You are six not sixteen!

Last weekend we celebrated your six birthday at chuck-e-cheese. Your Momma planned a fabulous party for you, and you loved it. Not to mention you looked like a fashionista. Rocking a cat sweater, cowgirl boots, and a chuck-e-cheese cape. Your Momma has come a long way, I'm so proud to see the bound you two have now. Her love for you is more complex then you will ever know! Your entire family was there! It's not often that you are able to look around, in one room, and see almost everyone in your family, on both sides. I love those moments for you! One day you will understand how rare and amazing that is!

Last year I skipped a photoshoot with Sara Goff... And regret it STILL! So it was a MUST this year. As usual they turned out better than anyone could imagine. You are a natural beauty and posing is 2nd nature. This year you were able to enjoy the process now. We still have an adventure day to print your favorites for your loved ones. A tradition has been started and we are so lucky to have photo memories of you growing!

With the holidays coming up I am looking forward to spoiling you. You love hello kitty, and recently powder puff girls! You are obsessed with your cowgirl boots & you recently got purple glasses. As if you didn't look enough like your Momma before, now you are a spitting image. You still have a huge heart when it comes to animals & babies. Your laugh is the best belly chuckle I've ever heard & your eyes are as blue as could be with that same ol' long blond hair. You are beautiful inside and out, don't ever change that.

I love you!

Love, Auntie.
